Tigh Phoil is the name of our crofter's cottage on Skye. Gaelic looks so complex and romantic as a language I had all sorts of ideas about what that might mean, but it turns out to be 'police house' - no wonder they stick with the Gaelic.
Tigh Phoil is at Elgol on Skye - 40 mins down a single track road from any form of town, looking out towards the little islands of Rum and Eigg, and back towards the Black Cuillins, a range of mountainy hills that come right to the edge of the sea.

The door to the house and the door to the kitchen are too small to go in to without bending down.

The kitchen/living etc room

The bedroom....

Looking out the bedroom window - gives a sense of the thickness of the walls and the smallness of the apertures!

Rum from the garden...

After tea we went for a walk down to the harbour - prevailing wind somewhat obvious...

Looking back from the road to our cottage - it's in the trees near to the cottage on the furthest right.

The Cuillins...

Looking down on Elgol.
