Midsummer Night Sunset

I think I've mentioned before about photo tourism. Skye has become a mecca for Instagram tourists looking to 'get the shot', but also for serious photographers looking to 'get the shot'. Elgol is a favourite destination for both, despite the road, because of the Cuillins view across Loch Scavaig. I've said before too how hard it is to capture on our camera!
Last night was midsummer night, so we stayed up and went down to the harbour to see the sunset (10.34pm!).
Here's what it looked like....

Apart from the colour, which you'll see more of below, it was the most amazing set of cloud types - like a catalogue. It looked like someone had taken a chalk pastel set and made a fantasy sky.

I loved these stripes on the duck-egg blue sky, like 1950s tableware

This is just the clouds - like an abstract painting

Like the geology, the shore line, the mountain sides and the rivers, the Skye sunset is complex and multi-faceted. It's hard to know where to look. The Highlands are an immense landscape- after a day of looking your eyes get tired - and the sunset was epic!
We were not alone, however....check out how light it was at 10.50pm. You can't see the gear but they had big filters!! It's not a level playing field...https://www.google.com/search?q=elgol+sunset&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwia6dKfsPziAhWZilwKHUoAD0EQ_AUIECgB&biw=1353&bih=713
